The County enforces all state and local laws relating to the control, licensing, humane investigations, or rescuing of all animals within the unincorporated areas of the County and within cities contracting for County service.

Animal Care Facilities Holiday Hours Listed The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control will limit its hours during the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Hours will not be affected on Veterans Day.

Animal Shelters to Open on Sundays Beginning March 1, the County will open its animal shelters on Sundays to provide additional opportunities for residents to find a new pet, as well as unite with their lost animals sooner. The County’s pet adoption center in Lancaster will also open on Sundays, though will be closed on Mondays.
