Employee Development

Improving employee skills and enhancing productivity are the goals of employment development classes offered by the County. Some of the classes qualify for college credit, while others just help the employees do their jobs better or increase their opportunities for career advancement. Classes are offered for management, technical and administrative positions.

Computer Software Training
The Los Angeles County Computer Software Training program is designed to help employees upgrade their computer skills and enhance their productivity.

Workplace English Enrollment Open
The Workplace English program is designed to provide vocational language skill proficiencies for employees who speak English as a second language.

	Deputy Leadership Institute The Sheriff's Department requires all its employees to receive Deputy Leadership Institute training.
	Drug-Free Workplace Online training is available to teach supervisors, managers and those moving into supervisory positions about how to deal with employees suspected of using drugs or alcohol. The training is part of a Board-approved program
	Employee Test Preparation Several test preparation guides will assist job applicants prepare for a County written employment test.
	Learning Academy The Learning Academy offers skill-building classes for County employees.
