The County of Los Angeles recognizes excellence and performance by providing comprehensive and competitive benefit programs to its employees. Emphasis is directed toward offering employees a variety of benefits that help meet their needs and balance their career with their personal life. The main theme of all of the programs is flexibility.

Highlights

State Income Tax Withholding Jumps 10 Percent
Beginning Nov. 1, the amount of state income tax withheld from employee paychecks increased by 10 percent. The hike is the result of action by the State of California. While withholding is increasing, a person's annual state income tax liability will not change.

Discount Computer Equipment Available to Employees
Significant discounts on selected computer equipment are available to County employees and their families. Available are desktops, laptops and tablet personal computers; monitors and laser printers.

Wellness Classes Offered
Free monthly lunchtime seminars are presented by the County’s medical and dental carriers and the CEO, Employee Assistance Program at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration in Room B-62.

Pre-Retirement Workshops
Free half-day pre-retirement workshops assist employees choose the right retirement date, specific forms, health care, and compute retirement allowance. LACERA recommends attendance at a workshop five years before retirement and then again two years prior.

	COBRA Employees and their families may continue their health benefits temporarily in certain instances where coverage would otherwise end.
	Deferred Income Plans The County has four deferred income plans.
	Discounts Certain employee discount programs, including computer purchases, have been approved by the Board of Supervisors
	Domestic Partner Coverage Domestic partners of County employees are eligible for coverage under County-approved health plans and may qualify for favorable tax treatment.
	Employee Assistance Program Licensed mental health professionals are available to provide services to employees and their dependents for a wide range of personal or situational stress that interferes their well-being, day-to-day functioning.
	General Benefits Information Comprehensive and competitive benefit programs are provided to County employees.
	Guidelines for Timely Processing of Benefits Employees must meet time guidelines to file for certain benefits.
	Holidays The County gives its employees 11 paid holidays.
	Occupational Health & Disability The primary responsibility of the Occupational Health and Disability Section is to protect the health of County employees and minimize the adverse effects of employee injuries and illnesses.
	Retirement The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association provides retirement, disability and death benefits to eligible employees and beneficiaries.

	Work Injuries or Illnesses The County has established three medical provider networks to treat employees with work-related injuries and illnesses.
