Health

The County has many programs to protect, maintain and improve the health and mental health of its residents. These include providing low-cost and no-cost care at public and private facilities, coordinating the emergency medical services system, working to prevent disease, and protecting against basic threats to public health.

H1N1 Vaccination Clinics Offered H1N1 Vaccination Clinics Offered
Free H1N1 vaccines are available at county clinics for residents who do not have health insurance or a regular source of health care, and are in a priority group. A list of dates and locations is available on the Public Health Department website.

Precautions Urged to Avoid West Nile Virus
The public is urged to take precautions to avoid mosquitos, the primary carrier of the West Nile Virus. The first 2009 human case of the disease has been confirmed in Los Angeles County.

Illegal Pharmaceuticals
The Department of Health Services warns of the dangers of illegally sold pharmaceuticals and lists most common types of misbranded/mislabeled pharmaceuticals it has found.

Private Provider Health Care
Health care is provided at more than 100 privately-operated facilities to low-income residents who do not qualify for Medi-Cal or any other government or third-party assistance programs.
