Metro Users Get Discount at Aquarium in Long Beach
Discounts will be provided for admission to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach by showing a valid Metro pass, Metro Rail ticket or Destination Discount card. The promotion is effective through Dec. 31, 2010.

Turnstile Gates Being Installed in Subway Stations
Turnstile fare gates are being installed at four Metro Red Line subway stations to prevent fare evasion and improve security. By the end of August, gates will have been installed at Normandie, Union Station, Westlake and Pershing Square subway stations.

Blue Line Night Service Impacted
Metro Blue Line passenger service on Sunday through Thursday nights after 8 p.m. will be impacted for four months starting June 28 as construction crews integrate the Metro Blue Line in downtown Los Angeles with the new Expo light rail line that is being constructed. Train service that normally runs every 20 minutes instead will run every 30 minutes because Metro must single track trains.

Construction Begins on Metro Orange Extension
Construction has begun on a four-mile extension of the highly successful Metro Orange Line, extending the dedicated busway from Canoga Park to Chatsworth. The project is the first to be funded by the voter-approved Measure R transportation sales tax.

The County Public Works Department administers general public, fixed-route transit systems, including shuttle services in unincorporated areas.
